Lucky Solo Miner Solves Bitcoin Block Worth Over $347,000

A solo Bitcoin miner has defied the odds by successfully mining a block worth more than $347,000, a rare feat on the world’s most competitive blockchain network.

A Rare Solo Victory

On Sunday, an independent miner processed block 913,632 through Solo CKPool, securing a reward of 3.13 BTC valued at $347,872. The block contained 593 transactions totaling 473.61 BTC (around $52.6 million), with an average transaction size of 0.7987 BTC, according to blockchain data.

The miner’s payout included the standard 3.125 BTC block reward, along with an extra 0.0042 BTC in transaction fees.

Competing Against Giants

Solo CKPool allows smaller miners to participate in Bitcoin mining without running a full node, offering a chance to compete against industrial-scale operations. However, solo wins are extremely rare, given that large players operate hundreds of ASICs, dramatically increasing their chances of finding blocks first.

“Of all blockchain networks out there, there is no comparison when it comes to matching Bitcoin network’s decentralization,” said Peter Chung, head of research at Presto Labs. “These events add to that narrative.”

Not the First Lucky Strike

This marks the second solo block discovery this month, following a similar event on September 1. Last month, another independent miner struck gold with block 910,440, earning 3.137 BTC valued at around $365,000.

Odds as Rare as a Lottery

Bitcoin’s mining difficulty currently stands at 136.04 trillion (T), near record highs, according to YCharts. The metric adjusts every 2,016 blocks to maintain an average 10-minute block time.

“The beauty of Bitcoin’s proof-of-work algorithm is that there is no formula — the correct nonce is found only through trial and error,” explained Arjun Vijay, founder of crypto exchange Giottus. While acknowledging the thrill of rare solo wins, he noted that most miners prefer pools for consistent payouts.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading near $111,103, up 0.5% in 24 hours and more than 104% year-on-year, according to CoinGecko.
