Metaplanet Stock – Metaplanet has boosted its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings by acquiring an additional 1,005 BTC, valued at roughly $108 million, bringing its total stash to 13,350 BTC. This impressive accumulation pushes the company ahead of giants like Galaxy Digital (12,830 BTC) and CleanSpark (12,502 BTC), making Metaplanet the world’s fifth-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder.
CEO Gerovich: “Added 10,000 BTC in Just 3 Months”
Simon Gerovich, CEO of Metaplanet, revealed on Monday that the recent purchase averaged $107,601 per Bitcoin, totaling $108.1 million spent. With this acquisition, the company’s Bitcoin assets are valued at approximately $1.4 billion at current market prices. Gerovich proudly announced on social media that Metaplanet jumped from 3,350 BTC three months ago to 13,350 BTC now, marking a remarkable surge in its crypto portfolio.
Ambitious 2027 Goal: Holding Over 210,000 BTC
Aligned with its aggressive strategy unveiled earlier this year, Metaplanet aims to hold more than 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. This bold target underscores the company’s serious commitment to expanding its Bitcoin reserves amid growing institutional adoption.
New Bond Issuance to Fund Bitcoin Purchases
On the same day, Metaplanet disclosed the issuance of interest-free ordinary bonds worth 30 billion yen (~$208 million) in Japan, maturing on December 29, 2025. The company also announced a buyback and cancellation plan for its third series of interest-bearing, collateral-backed bonds due in November 2024. Funds raised from the new bond issuance will partly finance the bond buyback and the remainder will be allocated to further Bitcoin acquisitions.
Metaplanet’s stock price surged 9.9% on Monday morning in the Japanese market. Over the past month, shares have climbed 53.5%, while year-to-date gains exceed a staggering 370.7%, reflecting strong investor confidence.
