Digital asset investment products attracted $47.2 billion in capital throughout 2025, according to the latest annual report from CoinShares. While the figure highlights sustained institutional interest, it fell slightly short of the record-breaking $48.7 billion set in 2024.

Crypto ETFs launched by major asset managers, including BlackRock and Grayscale, continued to dominate market activity. Despite failing to eclipse the previous year’s performance, the total inflow for 2025 remained robust, hovering near the $50 billion milestone.

The report reveals a significant shift in investor preference. Bitcoin inflows saw a 35% year-over-year decline, settling at $26.9 billion. In contrast, Ethereum funds experienced a dramatic 138% surge, drawing in $12.7 billion.

Shifting Dominance: Bitcoin and Ethereum in the Spotlight

The global influx of $47.2 billion into investment products, including spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, underscores a changing market landscape. Data provided by CoinShares suggests that Bitcoin’s absolute dominance is beginning to erode in favor of specific altcoins, with Ethereum capturing a substantially larger slice of the institutional pie.

The opening week of 2026 has already provided a promising outlook for the industry. A net inflow of $671 million recorded this past Friday suggests that the appetite for these funds remains strong heading into the new year.

Ethereum led the altcoin charge with its 138% annual increase, but other assets posted even more explosive growth. XRP funds saw a 500% jump compared to the previous year, reaching $3.7 billion, while Solana funds skyrocketed by 1,000% to hit $3.6 billion.

Industry analysts note that continued interest in these investment products, even during altcoin market downturns, has heightened expectations of a potential supply shock in the coming years.
