BTC Price Surges on Massive Inflows: Will Sellers Take Over Soon?

This week, there was a significant price trigger for Bitcoin. As institutional inflows jumped to $3.2 billion in the last week, it reached a new all-time high. At publication time, Bitcoin was trading close to $123,000 despite significant momentum. Similar to the last retreat after crossing $124,000, the price action allows for a possible drop. It seems reasonable to adopt this cautious approach. According to AMBCrypto’s data, certain investor behavior is starting to match predictions of a potential market fall.
Historic Bitcoin Cycle Pattern Suggests Bear Market Ahead
The Max Intersect SMA Model, which is frequently used to determine the market-cycle peaks of Bitcoin, suggested that bearish momentum would soon surface. The Smart Model (blue line) reached its highest reading of this cycle, $60,140, based on Alphafractal data. The founder of Alphafractal, Joao Wedson, said on X that this metric usually flashes a sell signal, indicating a cycle peak, whenever it reaches $69,000.
In the past, this alignment came before significant peaks in 2017 and 2021. The theoretical price cap is now projected by the model to be close to $138,000, with Bitcoin already testing the $123,000–$125,000 range. Despite continuous inflows, traders seem to be shifting toward a defensive posture in the midst of these changes, according to AMBCrypto’s analysis.
Bitcoin Faces Selling Pressure as Futures CVD Shows Bear Dominance
When traders are planning for a possible price decline, the Futures Taker CVD (Cumulative Volume Delta) is one of the most obvious indicators. This statistic calculates the difference between the futures market’s buy and sell volumes to ascertain the sentiment that is most likely to affect price movement. The Taker CVD showed that bears were in charge at the time of writing because seller volume outpaced buyer volume on all exchanges. Growing sales volume is an indication of increasing sales pressure, which might erode Bitcoin’s current positive trend.
