Altcoin ETFs Coming? SEC Set to Rule on Crypto Index Funds
Altcoin ETF– The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could begin approving crypto-linked exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as early as next month, signaling what analysts are calling an “altcoin ETF summer.”
Broad Crypto ETFs on the Horizon
According to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, “ETFs that track broad crypto indexes may be approved by the SEC next month.” His colleague Eric Balchunas echoed this on X, adding that the SEC may even “act early” on applications tied to Solana (SOL) and staking-based ETFs.
Major firms like Grayscale and Bitwise have filed proposals for ETFs that would bundle several cryptocurrencies. The SEC faces a July 2 deadline for responding, and Bloomberg analysts give a 90% chance of approval.
Solana and Staking ETFs in the Lead?

Solana may be among the first altcoins to have its own ETF, with discussions underway between fund issuers and the SEC regarding the technicalities of staking integration.
Get ready for a potential altcoin ETF summer with Solana likely leading the way.
Additionally, ETFs tied to XRP, Solana, and staking are also being evaluated, although decisions on those may come later in the year.
Baskets Could Be the Trend

Speaking to Cointelegraph, 21Shares President Duncan Moir stated,
Basket products are going to be more interesting… It’s like you don’t know which one will win, so you buy a basket.
He believes broader ETPs may attract institutional investors and could become a dominant trend in U.S. markets.
Active Crypto and Memecoin ETFs Ahead?
ETF Store President Nate Geraci suggested that the SEC might soon “open the floodgates on crypto ETFs,” potentially paving the way for spot crypto trading at major brokerages.
Balchunas also hinted that active memecoin ETFs could appear as early as 2026, but only after a wave of active crypto ETF launches.
