Silent Crypto Drains Hit EVM Chains as $107K Vanishes From User Wallets

Several blockchains that are compatible with EVM are silently experiencing a fresh wave of low-value wallet draining. On-chain detective ZachXBT claims that hundreds of wallets have already been compromised. Even while each loss is minor, the total damage has now exceeded $107,000 and is still growing. The event brings to light an expanding class of automated attacks that target huge numbers of victims rather than just one.

Automated Wallet Drains Hit Ethereum, BNB Chain, and More

According to ZachXBT‘s research, the majority of impacted wallets lost less than $2,000 each. This strategy seems intentional. Attackers can prevent an instant alarm or user reporting by minimizing losses. But when combined, the effect takes on significance. With nearly $54,000 already spent, Ethereum bears the heaviest portion of the losses. Base, Arbitrum, and Polygon have also been impacted, while BNB Chain comes in second with about $25,000. Lower levels were found in Manta Pacific, Optimism, Linea, Zora, and Ink. Instead of a single exploit, the broad spread suggests a highly automated operation operating across multiple chains.

Silent Drains Highlight Systemic Risks in Wallet Infrastructure

Investigators have not yet found a definite point of entry. The drains have not been definitively connected to any wallet provider, browser extension, or decentralized program. According to ZachXBT, the pattern is not similar to traditional phishing campaigns. Rather, the conduct suggests that delayed token approvals may be abused or that secret keys may be exposed. In line with scripted execution, money was taken out in tiny, recurring increments. Users are advised to check their transaction history for any interactions because one wallet address has been found to be the primary hub for the stolen assets.

The warning follows a different Trust Wallet extension breach that caused losses of about $7 million. The timing of the two instances highlights growing concerns about supply chain integrity and wallet security, even though they are not formally related. The conclusion is obvious for both investors and regular users: low-value drains, particularly in a multi-chain setting, might nonetheless indicate considerable systemic risk.
