The slashing mechanism encourages stakers to act honestly and guarantees the security of the AVSs. Conversely, stakers who successfully complete their tasks earn additional rewards determined by the AVSs. These rewards can be in the form of the AVS’s own tokens or in ETH.

- Systemic Risk: A major security vulnerability in one AVS within the EigenLayer ecosystem could affect the entire system and cause widespread damage through a domino effect. Therefore, it is critically important for AVSs to ensure their security is at the highest level.
Despite all these risks, the potential offered by EigenLayer is incredibly exciting for the crypto world. If these risks can be managed effectively, EigenLayer could act as a catalyst for the accelerated growth of the decentralised finance (DeFi) and Web3 ecosystems.
