Crypto Market Braces for Wave of ETF Decisions Next Month

The crypto industry is preparing for a pivotal month as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) faces final deadlines on 16 crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in October. These decisions could bring new opportunities for investor exposure to major altcoins such as Solana (SOL), XRP (XRP), Litecoin (LTC), and Dogecoin (DOGE).

Key Deadlines Approaching

The first ruling on the calendar is for decentralized exchange Canary’s Litecoin ETF, with a deadline of October 2. This will be followed by Grayscale’s Solana and Litecoin trust conversion on October 10. The final decision for the month is expected on October 24, when WisdomTree’s XRP fund reaches its deadline, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart.

While deadlines are set, the SEC has the authority to issue approvals at any time before those dates. This creates heightened anticipation across the market.

Analysts Eye Potential Altcoin Rally

Market experts believe these ETF approvals could have a significant impact. In August, analysts from the Bitfinex crypto exchange suggested that approvals may ignite a new altcoin season, allowing investors safer exposure to popular tokens while boosting demand.

ETF analyst Nate Geraci, president of NovaDius Wealth Management, called it an “enormous next few weeks for spot crypto ETFs”, noting that decisions will cover a wide range of tokens, including SOL, DOGE, XRP, ADA, and HBAR.

Crypto trader Daan Crypto Trades even dubbed October “ETF month,” while pointing out that Fidelity and BlackRock—two of the largest players in the ETF arena—are notably absent from this round of filings.

SEC Approval Odds

Back in June, Seyffart estimated that the SEC had a 90% or higher chance of approving these upcoming crypto ETFs sometime in 2025. While the timeline for official launches remains uncertain, October’s decisions could set the stage for a turning point in the crypto investment landscape.
