Bitcoin Reserve- Trump’s Executive Order Sparks Momentum for National Bitcoin Stockpile
Bitcoin Reserve– Despite only a brief mention in a recent White House crypto policy report, the Trump administration remains firmly committed to building a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
Robert “Bo” Hines, Executive Director of the US President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, confirmed in a recent interview that accumulation efforts are underway. “We do believe in accumulation,” Hines stated, emphasizing that Bitcoin is “in a class of its own” and widely recognized as a unique digital asset.
Bitcoin Reserve: A Work in Progress with Long-Term Vision
Hines highlighted that establishing the infrastructure for this strategic reserve takes time and careful planning to ensure long-term success. He reassured the public that the administration is dedicated to moving forward swiftly and thoughtfully. “There are countless ways we can accumulate,” he added.
While the White House’s President’s Working Group on Digital Asset Markets only briefly referenced the Bitcoin reserve in its latest recommendations to “strengthen American leadership in digital financial technology,” Hines made it clear the initiative remains a priority.
How Much Bitcoin Does the US Government Hold?

When asked about the current Bitcoin holdings of the federal government, Hines declined to disclose specifics, citing multiple reasons. However, he was clear about the ambition: “We want as much BTC as we can possibly get, and we’re going to continue working on that.”
Estimates from blockchain analytics firm Nansen suggest the US government currently holds around 198,000 BTC, valued at approximately $2.35 billion.
Trump’s Executive Order: The Official Start
The foundation for this effort was laid in March when President Trump signed an executive order officially creating the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and US Digital Asset Stockpile. This move signaled the administration’s intent to embrace Bitcoin as a critical component of national digital finance strategy.
