Peter Brandt: Bitcoin Is “Just an Asset,” Not a Life Solution
Peter Brandt has voiced strong criticism of the cryptocurrency community, particularly targeting the popular “hodl” mindset embraced by many Bitcoiners. In blunt terms, Brandt declared, “There is no winning with the crypto community. Most of you are a bunch of idiots who borrow money to buy pizza.” This harsh statement highlights his frustration with how some users blindly hold onto Bitcoin regardless of market conditions.
Bitcoin Is Just an Asset, Says Brandt
Brandt emphasized that Bitcoin is just an asset, urging holders to “get a life” rather than placing unrealistic expectations on the cryptocurrency. He warned, “Those who believe Bitcoin will right all the wrongs in their life will be greatly disappointed.” According to the seasoned chartist, Bitcoin has become a sort of religion for “too many people,” which, in his opinion, damages the asset’s reputation.
Backlash from the Crypto Community
Brandt’s comments didn’t sit well with many Bitcoin supporters. On the social platform X, one user shot back, “You are becoming annoying and old.” Brandt, who commands a following of over 800,000, admitted his frustration, saying, “I have had it up to the tip of my head with people on Twitter X.“
Michael Saylor Responds
The veteran trader’s rant caught the attention of none other than billionaire Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy. Saylor responded to Brandt’s post by defining Bitcoin as “an asset, circulating on a network, governed by a protocol, and rooted in ideology.” His comment added a more nuanced perspective to the ongoing debate about Bitcoin’s nature and community.
