Despite this ambitious vision, Robinhood’s stock saw a slight dip in after-hours trading—likely reflecting high market expectations already priced in.
Crypto Revenue Soars as Trading Activity Surges
In Q2 2025, Robinhood’s crypto revenue skyrocketed 98% year-over-year to $160 million, fueled by a 32% jump in crypto trading volume. Total crypto trading volume hit $28 billion, while the overall market capitalization grew 21.7% to $3.36 trillion. Robinhood’s digital asset business now generates record revenue, supported by an expanding user base and service offerings.
A major boost came from acquiring Bitstamp in June, adding $7 billion in institutional trading volume and access to over 50 global regulatory licenses. This acquisition is fueling Robinhood’s global crypto expansion.
Platform Growth and Premium Services Boost User Engagement
Robinhood’s total platform assets nearly doubled to $279 billion, with funded customer accounts increasing 10% year-over-year to 26.5 million. Its premium service, Robinhood Gold, also hit a record 3.48 million subscribers, showing strong demand for advanced trading features.
Robinhood Chain and Tokenized Private Equity: The Future of Investing
Tenev champions tokenization as the “biggest innovation” in finance this decade. Robinhood Chain, a layer-2 blockchain active in Europe, enables trading tokenized US stocks across 30 countries. Plans to bring similar offerings to the US are underway.
Robinhood also launched private equity tokens modeled after giants like OpenAI and SpaceX, letting investors access big firms’ growth without buying traditional shares. However, regulatory scrutiny is rising, with warnings from OpenAI and Lithuania’s financial watchdog investigating compliance issues.
