Matter Labs hires Activision Blizzard Executive to boost zkSync gaming plans
Matter Labs has recruited Michael Lee, a former Vice President of Community at Activision Blizzard, to assume the role of Senior Vice President of Community. Lee’s primary objective in this new position will be to concentrate on integrating gaming into the zkSync platform. During his tenure at Activision, Lee played a pivotal role in overseeing the vast community of 400 million players across popular titles like Call of Duty and Overwatch.
Crypto is still waiting for its killer app. My personal thesis is — only an epic game has the potential to launch to a million players overnight and quickly scale to ten million if beautifully designed and fun to play
Michael Lee
Lee’s primary focus will revolve around enhancing the presence of zkSync within the gaming industry and expanding its user base beyond those already familiar with cryptocurrencies. ZkSync, an Ethereum-based Layer 2 network, provides quicker and more affordable transactions while maintaining the same level of security as Ethereum.
Currently, the lack of proper infrastructure has been a massive blocker

Also added: “zkSync would support game development by AAA studios or crypto-curious elite game developers.”
Before his role at Activision, Lee held the position of Vice President at Dfinity, the creators of the Internet Computer Protocol, where he focused on global marketing and communications, gaining previous experience in the cryptocurrency field.
Interestingly, Lee is not the only executive from Activision to transition into the crypto industry recently. Just last month, Daniel Alegre, former President and Chief Operating Officer of Activision, became the CEO of Yuga Labs, the company behind Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Matter Labs has already made notable progress in the gaming domain, with 13 games currently under development on their network, two of which are already live. Among these projects, WEMADE, renowned for creating the game Legend of Mir, which has sold over 500 million copies, is now working on a game called WEMIX.
