Shibarium’s Biggest Update Yet: Full Privacy Powered by Zama

The Shiba Inu ecosystem team is getting ready for a significant, game-changing update. With this version, Shibarium’s Layer-2 blockchain will have privacy features. Lucie, a marketing executive, just revealed on X that Shibarium will soon include privacy options. Zama’s Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) will power these functionalities. She emphasized that before the end of Q2 2026, the integration might bring confidential smart contracts and complete on-chain privacy to Shibarium and its gas token, BONE.
Shibarium Set to Integrate Zama’s FHE Tech in 2026
This development began in February 2024 when Zama.ai and the Shiba Inu ecosystem declared a strategic alliance. Zama is an open-source cryptography company with headquarters in Paris. The team highlighted the partnership as a significant step toward changing the ecosystem’s security and privacy standards when it was revealed in the Shiba Inu magazine. As Zama’s cutting-edge FHE technology gets closer to complete integration into the Shibarium network, that vision is now becoming a reality.
A screenshot of Zama’s protocol roadmap was included with the announcement. It demonstrates that Ethereum’s Sepolia network’s public testnet is already operational. According to the roadmap, ZAMA’s token generation event (TGE) and deployment on the Ethereum mainnet will launch before the year is out. After reaching this milestone, Zama plans to provide support for blockchains that are compatible with EVMs, such as Shibarium, in the first half of 2026. In the second half of the next year, it also intends to launch its mainnet on Solana.
FHE Integration Could Make Shibarium the Most Secure EVM Chain
Smart contracts can handle encrypted inputs thanks to Zama’s FHE technology. This implies that they can generate encrypted outputs without ever having to decrypt the data. This opens up a whole new category of privacy-focused apps for Shibarium users and developers. These include completely private DeFi protocols as well as private on-chain transactions and wallet interfaces. The integration aims to strengthen network security and improve Shibarium’s competitive position, in addition to improving privacy. It would distinguish the blockchain from most EVM chains that do not have native FHE capability, as well as from other meme-based initiatives.
