YZi Labs Prepares for Growth: Could Investors Soon Access AI, Robotics, and Crypto Assets?
Changpeng Zhao, a co-founder of Binance, is allegedly thinking about converting YZi Labs’ assets into an investment fund and making it available to outside investors. Among other things, the company primarily invests in robotics, AI, and cryptocurrency. The Financial Times said that Ella Zhang, the head of YZi Labs, told the publication that the company intends to eventually think about making it an external-facing fund. Nonetheless, it continues to concentrate on its ongoing projects, which are managed by a staff of 12.
In AI and biotech we’re still early, we’re forming our team. When we have that expertise, we have the confidence level, we’ll open up for external investors,
Zhang
CZ’s Family Office YZi Labs Targets the Future of AI, Biotech, and Crypto Innovation
The venture capital firm YZi Labs, formerly known as Binance Labs, invests its funds in early-stage businesses primarily in the Web3, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and biotech industries. Established in early 2025, the company serves as the family office for Changpeng Zhao, a co-founder of Binance, and Yi He, a longtime partner of Zhao.
Zhao has a net worth of $84.8 billion as of August 2025, placing him 24th on Forbes’ list of billionaires. His company oversees these assets and makes investments in early-stage initiatives that complement Zhao’s goal of assisting new businesses in the biotech and Web3 industries. The fund may come under increased regulatory scrutiny if it chooses to make itself available to American investors. This is especially important because Zhao was imprisoned for four months last year and has yet to obtain an official pardon from President Trump.
CZ’s Vision for YZi Labs: Empowering the Next Generation of AI and Biotech Innovators
Zhao admitted to failing to take precautions against money laundering in 2023. A punishment of more than $4.3 billion was agreed upon by Binance, which pleaded guilty to criminal allegations related to money laundering and violations of international financial restrictions. After serving his time in prison, Zhao came out of it determined to invest in and coach early-stage biotechnology, robotics, and artificial intelligence enterprises.
Under the name YZi Labs, he would turn Binance Labs into a family office as his method. CZ intended to improve the incubation program of the venture capital arm under YZi Labs, including residency programs for project creators. Additionally, the company would keep up its current 250-project portfolio.
I can help them with funding, with advice, with coaching, mentoring if they want it with access to other resources, connections,
