Roblox Adopts XRP for Payment Processing

Crypto News– In a recent announcement made on October 17, BitPay revealed that Roblox, the popular online gaming platform boasting more than 200 million monthly active users, has now incorporated XRP as an accepted payment method. This decision to embrace XRP as a payment option is made possible through a partnership with Xsolla, a company responsible for managing in-game payments within the Roblox ecosystem. BitPay, in turn, plays a crucial role by facilitating a seamless connection with cryptocurrency wallets.

Roblox, renowned for its widespread availability on platforms such as Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, boasts an impressive 65.5 million daily active users, with a notable 44% of this user base falling under the age of 13. During the first quarter of 2023, Roblox users collectively spent approximately $773 million on in-game purchases, underscoring the platform’s economic significance.

Xsolla has demonstrated a proactive stance in integrating cryptocurrencies into its payment system. Notably, in August 2022, the company partnered with Coinchange Financial, an automated crypto management platform, and TradeZing, a live-streaming social Web3 platform, to develop a nonfungible tokens payment solution. Further advancing its crypto integration efforts, in August 2023, Xsolla teamed up with Crypto.com to integrate the latter’s checkout solution into Xsolla’s Pay Station platform.

This partnership between Xsolla and BitPay can be traced back to 2014 when they first started accepting Bitcoin as a payment method. Building upon their collaboration, in September 2023, BitPay and Xsolla introduced PayPal USD as an additional payment option for both merchants and consumers, further diversifying the range of payment methods available within the Roblox gaming ecosystem.
