Elon Musk and Trump- More than a million viewers tuned in to hear former President Donald Trump speak with Tesla’s Elon Musk during a Twitter Spaces interview on Monday. Many in the crypto community were hoping for fresh insights or comments on the industry from Trump, but were left disappointed as the former president didn’t mention cryptocurrency at all.

Crypto Hopes Dashed as Technical Glitches Disrupt Interview

The conversation, which covered familiar topics such as U.S. border security, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and immigration, did not touch on the asset class that many were eager to hear about. Despite over $4 million riding on Trump mentioning keywords related to crypto on Polymarket—$800,000 of which was specifically on crypto—he didn’t address it. Keywords like MAGA, illegal immigrant, and tampon were mentioned, but not Tesla or Bitcoin.

Adding to the frustration, the interview was marred by technical issues. A DDoS attack interrupted the highly anticipated chat, leaving many listeners unable to access the conversation recorded on Spaces. Elon Musk reported the attack to Twitter at 8:18 pm ET, noting that the system had been tested with eight million nonconcurrent listeners earlier in the day.
