Optimism-Backed Layer-2 Testnet Launched by BNB Chain
Launched on June 19 as a test network, opBNB was introduced by BNB Chain. Based on the Optimism OP Stack, the new layer-2 scaling solution promises to increase the security and scalability of the Binance blockchain network. The release states that with an average transaction cost of less than $0.005, opBNB can accommodate over 4,000 transfer operations per second.
It added that opBNB also permits simultaneous operations by optimizing the cache layer, data accessibility, and the submission process algorithm. This enables it to raise the gas restriction from Optimism’s 30 million to 100 million per block. The answer to the scalability challenge that has limited the mass adoption of blockchain technology, according to a statement released by Binance, is opBNB.
BNB Chain Ranks 3rd in DeFi with Optimism-Backed Layer-2 Testnet
By automatically presuming that the transaction data, which is handled off the root chain, is genuine unless demonstrated otherwise, optimism employs Optimistic Rollups to scale transactions. It also mentioned how the RPC (remote procedure call) service layer makes integration easier by providing an intuitive interface. Moreover, it stated that this frees developers from having to worry about the intricacies of Layer 2 scaling so they can concentrate on creating applications.
- In terms of DeFi total value locked, BNB Chain is the third-largest blockchain, behind Ethereum and Tron, according to DefiLlama.
- It has about a million active daily users, a TVL of $3.38 billion, and a 24-hour volume of $264 million.
FAQ
What is BNB Chain?
BNB Chain is a blockchain platform developed by Binance, optimized for high-performance and decentralized applications.
What is Layer-2?
Layer-2 are second layer solutions that run on top of the main blockchain (Layer-1) and improve scalability by increasing transaction speed and reducing costs.
What is Optimism?
Optimism is a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum. It improves transaction efficiency and reduces costs using a technique called Optimistic Rollups.
