Highly Anticipated opBNB Mainnet Launched with Support from Over 150 Projects
BNB Chain announced the launch of the opBNB mainnet on its official X account. By providing lower gas fees and democratizing access to blockchain technology, opBNB, a Layer 2 chain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and built on the Optimism OP Stack, aims to transform the blockchain sector.
Transition from Testnet to Mainnet
The first step towards the launch of the OpBNB mainnet was the testnet launch on June 19, 2023. With this launch, the BNB community and developers had the opportunity to test the network. At the same time, the testnet focused on scalability and security. This allowed mainnet to be built on a strong foundation.
This strong foundation made it easier for more than 150 projects to integrate opBNB. On the other hand, the mainnet is not completely bug-free, even though it has passed many audits, and this is not denied by Binance. However, the company has assured its community that it will continuously improve its security measures.
About opBNB Mainnet
Modularity is integrated into opBNB’s distinctive architecture, which is based on the OP Stack. Through the use of a modular design strategy, network components can operate independently while still being dynamically synchronized to improve system performance. It distinguishes between the execution layer and the data availability (DA) layer, allowing for flexible selection of DA choices and switching between schemes as required.
By effectively organizing and batching transactions on its execution layer using Optimistic Rollup technology, opBNB speeds up validation on the main network. Rollups can bundle up to ten thousand transactions, according to Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, which makes validation easier by using pre-state and post-state execution roots. The right order of the blocks is made sure by a sequencer before processing.
