Spotify, a platform for streaming music, is experimenting with a new feature called “token-enabled music playlists” that enables owners of NFTs to connect their wallets and hear selected music.
Token-Enabled Music Playlists Are Being Tested by Spotify
Token owners in the Fluf, Moonbirds, Kingship, and Overlord communities can currently use the service. The three-month testing period will see frequent updates to the curated playlists, which will only be accessible to community members via a special URL.
The lizard-themed Creepz NFT project’s holders can connect their Web3 wallet to Spotify to access the project’s community-curated “Invasion” playlist, according to a tweet from Web3 gaming and media universe Overlord on Wednesday.
According to a tweet from Overlord, only Android users in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand can presently access the trial.
On the other hand, in a tweet reply, Spotify seemed to confirm the information.
Kingship’s Playlist
The NFT band KINGSHIP, from Universal Music Group, also tweeted that it had made a token-gated playlist including songs by Queen, Missy Eliott, Snoop Dogg, and Led Zeppelin for NFT holders.
Apoorv Lathey, the lead developer for the NFT liquidity protocol NFTX, tweeted a screenshot from the pilot that walked users through the process of accessing the curated playlist created by KINGSHIP on Spotify.
Holders of NFT can connect to their Metamask, Trust Wallet, Rainbow, Ledger Live, or Zerion wallets, according to the screenshot.
About Spofity’s Feature
On future plans to expand the feature’s availability, Spotify did not offer any other information. The over 489 million-user global streaming network has tried incorporating NFTs into its service in the past. The Wombats and Steve Aoki were among the musicians who were permitted by Spotify in May 2022 to advertise NFTs on their accounts.
