Tether and Guinea Join Forces: Is This Africa’s Next Blockchain Hub?

Guinea, an African country, and cryptocurrency stablecoin issuer Tether have signed an agreement to investigate the country’s use of peer-to-peer technology and blockchain. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) that Tether signed aims to lay the foundation for the nation’s adoption of blockchain technology and foster an innovative atmosphere.

According to Tether, a significant component of the MOU may involve integrating blockchain knowledge and instruction into public and private educational initiatives in Guinea in order to increase awareness, improve competencies, and foster local talent in digital technologies. The company noted that the goal of the deal is to exchange best practices with the West African country, with an emphasis on innovation, education, and sustainable tech practices.

Tether Supports Guinea’s Digital Transformation by Expanding its Reach

Tether has also stated that it is interested in supporting Guinea’s “Innovation City” project, which intends to establish areas for tech firms and research. According to Djiba Diakité, chief of staff to Mamady Doumbouya, the country’s temporary president, Guinea wants to provide its youth with the resources they need to take advantage of the digital world’s prospects and meet global challenges.
