Vinh Nguyen, the lead of the Joint L1 Task Force, announced the partnership with Hexxagon on July 28th. The partnership, according to Nguyen, aims to bolster security for the community-owned Station, Finder, and web wallet extension.

This development follows the passing of Proposal 11645, which intended to construct a community-owned wallet. Consequently, the L1TF is assigned the duty of building the wallet using funds received from the community pool.

The collaboration agreement, detailed in a GitHub document, dictates that both L1TF and Hexxagon will operate using the same account, owned by the Joint L1 Task Force. Under the name “Terra Classic Task Force”, the partnership will proceed with Professor Edward Kim owning the authority of the “terraclassic.community” domain.

Hexxagon is set to develop the Station, Finder, and web wallet extension, along with related dependent packages. It will also manage maintenance and infrastructure. L1TF’s role is to assist, review, and verify all pull requests related to the Station, Finder, and web extension.

Community’s Mixed Reactions to the Partnership

The partnership announcement has elicited mixed responses from the community due to Hexxagon’s association with Terra Rebels, a developer group that the community mistrusts. Several notable community members have voiced their disapproval, while others express support for the collaboration. As events unfold, the community will undoubtedly keep a watchful eye.
