Crypto News - Qanplatform Unveils Groundbreaking Evm-Compatible Testnet Resistant To Quantum Threats

Crypto News- QANplatform has just launched a groundbreaking quantum-resistant blockchain testnet, compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This remarkable development opens doors for the creation of smart contracts impervious to quantum threats.

According to QANplatform’s announcement shared with Cointelegraph, developers can now write smart contracts using any programming language, a significant flexibility boost. This achievement is hailed as the first of its kind, combining EVM compatibility with quantum-resistant cybersecurity.

QANplatform Breaks New Ground with Revolutionary EVM-Compatible Testnet Immune to Quantum Threats

Johann Polecsak, QANplatform’s co-founder and CTO, emphasized the importance of this advancement, stating, “Centralized authorities like governments, companies, and organizations can switch their IT security to post-quantum cryptography much more easily than blockchain platforms.”

IBM Condor’s Launch: Catalyst for Urgency in Post-Quantum Security

The urgency for post-quantum security became evident in December 2023 with the launch of IBM Condor, boasting 1,121 qubits, the second-largest quantum processor. Polecsak explained that existing blockchain networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum face challenges in adopting quantum-resistant security measures due to their decentralized nature.

He highlighted the risks associated with the pseudonymity of blockchain, where distinguishing legitimate owners from hackers becomes near impossible during migration to post-quantum security.

However, with the introduction of QANplatform’s testnet, EVM-compatible protocols can now experiment with quantum-resistant alternatives without jeopardizing user funds on the mainnet.

QANplatform’s Quantum-Resistant Technology Gains Traction in European Government Cybersecurity

This development follows closely on the heels of QANplatform’s quantum-resistant technology adoption by a European country in March, demonstrating its viability in safeguarding government-owned cybersecurity infrastructure.

Governments worldwide are increasingly investing in post-quantum research initiatives, with the European Commission allocating over 1 billion euros for the Quantum Flagship initiative launched in 2018.

Rising Threat of Quantum Computing

The urgency for quantum-resistant technology is underscored by the growing threat posed by quantum computing. Polecsak warned about the “Store now, decrypt later” cybersecurity threat, urging the adoption of quantum-resistant measures.

Corporate Adoption of Post-Quantum Cryptography

In the corporate sphere, Apple recently unveiled updates to iMessages featuring post-quantum cryptography, positioning itself as a leader in quantum-proof messaging. Similarly, Signal messaging app introduced “quantum-resistant” encryption upgrades, signaling a collective shift towards bolstering security against emerging threats.

Polecsak stressed the importance of staying ahead of the curve, as quantum computers could potentially crack existing cybersecurity algorithms, rendering them obsolete.

In essence, while the development of quantum computers may still be in progress, the need for post-quantum security measures is urgent to mitigate potential risks to digital infrastructure worldwide.
