Pi Network Urges Caution as Users Await Long-Anticipated Mainnet Launch

The Pi Network team recently took to X to remind users to rely exclusively on the official Pi Safety Center for verified communication channels and authentic links to Pi applications and products. This precaution aims to help users protect their accounts and wallets from potential security risks.

While some community members appreciated the announcement—calling it a “necessary reminder” for safeguarding their digital assets—many others had been anticipating a different kind of update, particularly regarding the long-awaited open mainnet launch or native token release.

A Long-Awaited Milestone

Despite being in development for nearly six years, Pi Network has yet to introduce its open mainnet, a delay that has led to growing frustration among users. The team previously assured that the Open Network launch would occur once 15 million users successfully complete Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification and migrate to the mainnet. However, this deadline—referred to as the Grace Period—has been postponed multiple times, with the latest target set for January 31, 2025.

At the start of this month, Pi Network reported “excellent progress,” stating that over 9 million users had successfully migrated. Prior to that, the team confirmed that 14 million users had completed KYC verification. It remains to be seen whether these key milestones will be reached before the deadline or if another extension will be announced.

Guidance for Users Facing KYC Delays

While an increasing number of users have completed the KYC process, some still face delays due to various issues. Addressing this, Pi Network recently explained that prolonged wait times for full KYC results and migrations may be due to unfulfilled user actions.

The team advised affected users to ensure that their liveness check videos are clear and well-lit when prompted in the mining app. They also emphasized the importance of signing the token acknowledgment, even for those still awaiting KYC approval, as it is a mandatory step for migration to the mainnet.

Additionally, users experiencing difficulties were encouraged to either spend Pi to update their name or appeal to resubmit their KYC application to move forward in the process.

With the final deadline approaching, the Pi Network community eagerly awaits further updates, hoping that the long-promised open mainnet will soon become a reality.
