Off the Grid’s Latest Update: New Region, Side Missions, and Exclusive Cyberlimb!

Off the Grid – Gunzilla Games has launched what they’re calling the “biggest update yet” for its blockchain-driven battle royale shooter, Off the Grid. This major update brings a new playable region to the game, introduces a new cyberlimb, and unveils an exciting “street event” to keep players engaged. Off the Grid initially made waves when it entered early access in October, blending battle royale and extraction shooter genres with quirky characters and a reality TV-inspired setting. It quickly surpassed Fortnite as the most popular free-to-play game on the Epic Games Store and later claimed Decrypt’s Game of the Year award.

New Region Unlocked: Midtown Harbour

The highlight of this update is the unlocking of Midtown Harbour, a previously restricted area on the Teardrop Island map. As part of the game’s goal to expand its playable space, Midtown Harbour marks the first step in opening up the full map, which will eventually be accessible by 2025. Inside this new region, players will face off against the Mexican Nuestros Diablos gang, a group of non-playable characters (NPCs) that will relentlessly defend the area. To earn valuable rewards, players will need to fight through the NPCs to extract a hex, which can then be traded for weapons, cyberlimbs, or skins.

MaxiGun Cyberlimb and More

The game’s most impactful addition is the new MaxiGun cyberlimb, a fully-automatic mini-gatling gun attached to the player’s arm. This new cyberlimb will shake up combat strategies and offer new ways to approach firefights. Additionally, the update introduces a new side mission, Combat DJ, where squads battle to control a DJ booth while earning loot and experience points (XP).

Cosmetic Upgrades and Bug Fixes

For players looking to freshen up their appearance, the update also includes the Nuestros Diablos content pack and a Pacifist Character Set for the battle pass. Along with the new content, a significant number of bug fixes, weapon improvements, and user interface changes have been implemented to improve the overall experience. Notably, there were no major weapon balance changes this time around.

Looking Ahead: Crypto Integration on the Horizon

Currently, Off the Grid’s crypto features are being tested on the GUNZ testnet, a dedicated L1 network on the Avalanche blockchain. The game plans to introduce a marketplace where players can freely trade weapons, cyberlimbs, and skins—a move that could further drive the adoption of crypto gaming in the future.
