Microsoft has just put in place high-performance hardware that will facilitate the deployment of generative AI. Tokyo and Osaka each have these data centers. As part of the collaboration, draft responses to the Japanese parliament’s questions will also be created.

The GPT-4 model will be used, and this is Microsoft’s first attempt in Asia. It will also incorporate generative AI from Meta. Recently, a partnership on that technology was established between Microsoft and Meta.

Japan Supports Artificial Intelligence

Japan has a reputation for being interested in ChatGPT and AI technology. In April 2023, the government of Japan will use the chatbot to assist with administrative procedures. Thus, its complicated governmental regulations were intended to be simpler to understand. Because they didn’t want to run the danger of sensitive information being leaked, officials did admit that they weren’t using it for a particularly important use case.

Some Japanese Institutions are Not Warm to ChatGPT

However, not all Japanese agencies are enthusiastic about ChatGPT. The Personal Information Protection Commission, a privacy watchdog, said in a statement that it had forwarded a warning to OpenAI not to acquire sensitive data from users. Additionally, it declared that if more action was required, it would take it.

Concerns regarding ChatGPT’s usage of personal data have been raised by other countries as well. This has emerged as one of the main criticisms of the technology, and with the popularity of competing ChatGPT applications, it might really prove to be a hindrance.
