Yuga Labs, a web3 studio renowned for creating the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, has achieved another resounding success with its latest video game Forge. The game has surpassed its previous title, Dookey Dash, in terms of user retention, boasting twice the number of users sticking with the game.

Spencer Tucker, Yuga Labs’ Chief Gaming Officer, shared that Forge achieved an impressive day 10 retention rate of 42%, outperforming Dookey Dash. Earlier this year, Yuga launched Dookey Dash, which garnered immense popularity, amassing over $110 million in trading volume for the game’s Sewer Pass NFTs. Furthermore, a well-known Fortnite gamer won a lucrative contest in the game, earning $1.6 million.

Tucker highlighted that Dookey Dash attracted a substantial number of new players who didn’t own NFTs from Yuga’s ecosystem. About 75% of Dookey Dash players were new to Yuga’s NFTs, leading to a 40% growth in unique wallets.

Following the success of Dookey Dash, Yuga introduced the first season of its new video game HV-MTL Forge (Heavy Metal) in June. HV-MTL Forge is a socially-driven game where players compete for the admiration of others. To participate, gamers need to own one of the 30,000 HV-MTL NFTs, currently valued at approximately $1,045, and the NFTs have collectively generated close to $64 million in trading volume since their launch in March.

HV-MTL Forge features six seasons and two modes, with the second mode set to launch in the upcoming weeks, according to Yuga Labs.

Among the top-tier NFT brands seeking to capitalize on their intellectual property’s popularity and expand their audience, Yuga appears to be leading in terms of user engagement, if not outright economic impact, with tens of millions of dollars in NFT trading related to gaming.

Spencer Tucker emphasized that their aim is to redefine the concept of digital collectibles, providing immersive experiences that make users forget they are interacting with NFTs.
