The Sandbox is a Metaverse project built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows content creators and other users to monetize using blockchain technology.
Community-Driven Ecosystem the Sandbox
Sandbox is entirely decentralized and community-driven. Users can create their own virtual worlds and NFTs. Adding them to games or trading them is entirely up to the players. Sandbox tries to provide users with everything they need to transition from the real world to the virtual world.
The Sandbox ecosystem consists of three different products. The products within the ecosystem exist to monetize users in different ways and to serve the Sandbox metaverse.
VoxEdit
VoxEdit is an NFT builder package that allows all users to create 3D objects such as trees, leaves, animals, and people. Users can use VoxEdit on PC and Mac to create 3D models in a completely free and easy way. The created voxel models are called assets. For this, content creators must first import their 3D voxel models into the Sandbox marketplace.
Assets
Assets are NFTs created on Voxedit, protected by ERC-1155 standards. The rights and ownership of the Assets belong entirely to the creator. The rarity and value of Assets depend entirely on the creator’s ability. There are five different types of assets:
- Entities: These are NPCs that are not controlled by other users in the game. They are NFTs that are added to the game to remind you of real life, such as farmers, chickens, and dogs.
- Equipment: Equipment is in-game NFTs that players can add to their inventory and equip to their avatar. These can be things like a shield, sword, helmet, and gloves.
- Wearables: These are NFTs that players create to change the appearance of their avatars. Wearable NFTs are created to give avatars unique looks. Things such as shoes, pants, t-shirts, and hats fall into this category.
- Art: Such assets are NFTs created to add decorative features to the game. Objects such as sculptures, artworks, and paintings fall into this category.
- Blocks: A category of entities used to change the appearance of the Metaverse world. Items such as purple water, mud, and volcanoes are included in this category.
Users can sell the assets they create through the marketplace.
Marketplace
The Marketplace is the in-game marketplace where users can trade and convert the voxel models they have created on VoxEdit into Assets. Users must first upload their voxel models before they can trade. Then NFTs, called assets, will become available for trading.
The Marketplace was first launched in 2021. Asset transformation and trading are available, as well as trading of other in-game items. Content creators pay a 5% commission for NFTs they want to sell. The SAND token is used for trading.
Sandbox Game Maker
Game Maker is software that allows you to create 3D games without any coding knowledge. There is no charge for the games you want to create, but if you want to publish the created games, you need to have a Sandbox LAND.
Secondly, to customize your land, you need to buy Assets or create your own. All rights to the created game belong to the creator. The game creator can request SAND tokens from users to play the game.
What is LAND?
LAND is NFT assets that players buy or rent to create their own worlds in the Sandbox metaverse. Each LAND is created according to ERC-721 standards. The use and ownership of the lands belong entirely to the user. There are a total of 166464 lands in the metaverse.
Users can design the purchased land in any way they want or rent it to other players to generate passive income.
Sandbox Features
Sandbox is entirely community-driven. It is built on the Ethereum blockchain, and NFTs are protected according to ERC standards, meaning that users have maximum control over their assets. Other highlights include:
- Ownership: Users have full ownership over the assets they create on Voxedit and the LAND NFTs they purchase. This also provides an excellent source of income for content creators.
- Participation in Governance: SAND token holders have a say in the governance of the game. In this community-run game, SAND token holders can sell their votes.
- Diversity: Sandbox is very versatile. Users can access a wide variety of games in the metaverse. There is also a game maker for users to design their own games.
In addition to the features listed above, there are many other advantages. In particular, content creators can generate significant revenues from the Sandbox market.
SAND Token
SAND is an ERC-20 token created on the Ethereum blockchain. It is used in almost every aspect of the ecosystem, from the governance of the platform to the trading of in-game assets. The SAND token maximum supply is 3,000,000,000,000, and its distribution is as follows:
- Launchpad Sale: 12%
- Private Seed Sale: 17.18%
- Private Strategic Sale: 4%
- Foundation: 12%
- Team: 19%
- Advisors: 10%
- Company Reserve: 25.82%
At the time of writing, the SAND token is trading at $0.6372 and has a 24-hour volume of $105,309,588, according to Coinmarketcap data.
Team
The team is made up of people experienced in Blockchain games and AAA games. The founding team is led by Arthur Madrid and Sebastien Borget. While the duo has been involved in the mobile gaming industry in the past years, they became interested in blockchain-based games in 2018. The creative team argues that Sandbox is not just a game but a platform where users can create and control their own world.
Summary
Sandbox is a fully community-driven Metaverse project built on the Ethereum blockchain. The platform consists of three main interconnected products. The basic logic is to create a platform where users can organize, design and control their own land as they wish.
There are various ways to earn within the ecosystem, as well as various games for users to have fun and pass the time. Each land in the metaverse has different characteristics and appearances.
All activities and trades in the game revolve around the SAND token. SAND token holders also have the right to vote in governance.
