By saying, “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program,” while seated in their vehicle, Mercedes drivers can sign up for the new AI-powered voice assistant. As an alternative, consumers can sign up through the “me” application provided by the automakers. The company announced the new feature on its Twitter account.

ChatGPT Will Enhance Existing Features

The manufacturer, a German company, stated that ChatGPT would complement its current voice control feature by enhancing its current capabilities.

While most voice assistants are limited to predefined tasks and responses, ChatGPT leverages a large language model to greatly improve natural language understanding and expand the topics to which it can respond.

Users will be able to ask the Voice Assistant questions about or unrelated to the driving experience using the ChatGPT connection, and the chatbot is said to be able to give in-depth replies.

Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud System

According to the company, any voice command data gathered by the voice assistant will be saved in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud system and anonymized before being evaluated. This system also includes Intelligent Park Pilot data. The company had previously tweeted about this feature.

About Beta Program

Three months are anticipated for the beta program. After that time, Mercedes stated that it would reconsider its plans to continue developing the ChatGPT-enabled voice control feature.
