March 4 Crypto News – Crypto Security Crisis: Amouranth Targeted in Violent Home Invasion

March 4 Crypto News – On March 2, popular streamer Amouranth, whose real name is Kaitlyn Siragusa, shared alarming posts on X, revealing that she was the victim of a home invasion by armed robbers who allegedly shouted, “we want crypto.” In November 2024, Amouranth publicly disclosed her crypto holdings, which included around 211 Bitcoin (BTC) worth approximately $20 million at the time, along with about $80,000 in Ether (ETH). This disclosure has made her a target for criminal activity.

Security Footage Shows Robbery in Progress

Hours after the initial posts, Amouranth provided an update, describing the terrifying events in more detail. She said there were three gunmen involved in the incident and shared a security camera video capturing part of the robbery. In the footage, the three men are seen fleeing after what appeared to be loud noises from another area of the property. While the incident is still under investigation, it has raised concerns about the vulnerability of high-profile crypto holders to such attacks.

Crypto “Wrench” Attacks on the Rise

Amouranth’s robbery is part of a disturbing trend of crypto wrench attacks in 2025. These attacks occur when criminals use physical force to demand crypto from their victims. In January, a Canadian crypto moderator went into hiding after a failed kidnapping attempt, where the abductors allegedly tried to force him to transfer his Bitcoin. Similarly, in January 2025, David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, was reportedly kidnapped, with a ransom demand linked to crypto assets.

Experts, such as Dr. Anon in Cointelegraph Magazine, emphasize that these attacks are highly sophisticated, with criminals targeting crypto holders using various methods of intimidation. Dr. Anon suggests using a decoy wallet to limit potential losses, a practice that could help mitigate damage in such extreme situations.

As the threat of crypto crimes continues to grow, security remains a significant concern for digital asset holders and the wider crypto community.
