Hoodi Test Network- A Step Toward Scalability and Better User Experience

Hoodi Test NetworkEthereum (ETH) developers have successfully activated the Pectra upgrade on the Hoodi testnet, marking an important milestone in the blockchain’s gradual approach toward a stable mainnet deployment. This update, which is expected to be the final planned test, paves the way for the potential release of the Pectra upgrade on Ethereum’s mainnet later this year, likely in the second quarter.

The Hoodi testnet, launched on March 17, was created specifically to finalize the testing of the Pectra upgrade after encountering difficulties in previous attempts on the Holesky and Sepolia testnets. The Holesky network experienced instability and lost finality for weeks, while Sepolia faced synchronization issues, making testing impractical. With Hoodi’s successful activation, Ethereum (ETH) is one step closer to achieving the full deployment of Pectra.

Key Features of the Pectra Upgrade

The Pectra upgrade introduces several code changes designed to enhance Ethereum’s functionality. These include improvements to user experience in crypto wallets, account abstraction through EIP-7702, increasing the validator stakes limit from 32 to 2,048 Ethereum (ETH) via EIP-7251, and expanding the maximum blob count to support rollup scalability through EIP-7691. Through the Hoodi testnet, Ethereum’s staking operators and client teams will continue testing these new features before deployment on the mainnet.

If no significant issues arise during the final tests on Hoodi, developers anticipate that Pectra could be deployed on Ethereum’s mainnet within 30 days, potentially as early as late April. However, the official mainnet launch may take place later in May or June to provide ample time for all stakeholders to prepare.

Ethereum (ETH) enthusiasts and stakeholders are closely watching these developments as the Pectra upgrade could significantly improve Ethereum’s scalability and user experience.
