Fake Token Presale Scam Rocks Crypto Community: Imposter Dupes Investors for $2.6 Million in SOL

Crypto News – In a staggering turn of events, a fraudulent individual impersonating the esteemed crypto influencer Ansem has managed to siphon off over $2.6 million worth of Solana tokens (SOL). The elaborate scam unfolded on X, formerly known as Twitter, capitalizing on the frenzy surrounding meme coins to ensnare unsuspecting investors into a fictitious presale for a non-existent token dubbed “BULL.”

Against the backdrop of a meme coin craze promising swift returns, it has become imperative for investors to exercise caution and vigilance to avoid falling prey to such nefarious schemes.

The deception orchestrated by the crypto scammer was brought to light by ZachXBT, renowned for his prowess as an on-chain detective. The perpetrator, posing as Ansem, strategically promoted the spurious ‘BULL’ token presale by replying to legitimate tweets from Ansem. This sophisticated stratagem resulted in substantial financial losses, with the most significant victim reported to have lost nearly $1.2 million.

Despite the exposure by ZachXBT, the scammers persisted in their illicit activities, managing to illicitly acquire an additional $250,000. Alarmingly, reports indicate that these fraudsters are employing the same modus operandi across other accounts, perpetuating their deception within the crypto community.

Reflecting on the magnitude of the fraud, X user Robert Sasu questioned the rationale behind individuals sending tokens to an account without implementing a sale smart contract, considering the minimal effort required to do so.
