Elon Musk Hints at Tesla Accepting Dogecoin Payments Amidst Cryptocurrency Enthusiasm

In response to a query about the possibility of using Dogecoin for car purchases, Musk expressed enthusiasm, stating, “When can you buy Tesla with Dogecoin? At some point, I think we should enable that.” He highlighted the current ability to purchase Tesla merchandise with Dogecoin, hailing it as a positive development and declaring, “So, Dogecoin to the moon.”
Musk’s affinity for the dog-themed memecoin is well-documented, with his previous expressions of support.
However, Musk’s latest endorsement of Dogecoin contrasts with his recent remarks suggesting a diminishing interest in cryptocurrencies overall. Last year, he indicated that he no longer dedicates significant thought to cryptocurrencies. Additionally, he asserted on a platform formerly known as Twitter that it would “never” introduce a cryptocurrency token.
It’s worth noting that Musk’s comments have historically had a significant impact on Dogecoin‘s value.
In the past 24 hours, Dogecoin‘s price has risen by 6.9% to reach $0.185, according to data from The Block. Year-to-date, the cryptocurrency has experienced an impressive surge of nearly 100%.
