CZ Demands Musk Crack Down on X Bots: Will X Take Action?

Changpeng Zhao (CZ), a co-founder of Binance, urged Elon Musk to remove automated accounts known as bots off the X platform. Automated bots are a well-known issue on X that harass users with scam messages promoting phony tokens, phishing links to harmful websites, and pump-and-dump scams. These bots are especially active in the crypto sphere of influence.

The creator of Binance distinguished between AI agents and automated social media bots in a different reply, stating that the latter were useful for practical tasks like writing programming or making hotel reservations without interacting with users.
X’s Bot Problem Persists: Is Musk’s Anti-Bot Plan Too Weak?
Since Musk acquired the platform in 2022, the cryptocurrency community has been urging him to address the bot issue. However, not much has been done to address the problem. Musk has proposed several measures to counter artificial bots, such as asking users to register a credit card. A few cents would be charged for this, making it expensive for bot farms to generate a lot of phony accounts. Nevertheless, this was insufficient.
AI-Powered Romance Scams: How Bots Are Tricking Crypto Investors?
Chatbots with AI capabilities have also made romance scams more sophisticated. In order to gradually gain the victim’s trust, the threat actor in these scams poses as someone who has a love interest in them. The malicious actor usually asks for money from the target by pretending to have financial difficulties or by presenting a phony investment plan once confidence has been adequately built. According to a 2023 study by the Network Contagion Research Institute, bots were also in charge of artificially pumping cryptocurrency prices through coordinated posts from several bots.
