The video surfaced on Facebook, enticing users to register for a sham platform promising substantial daily earnings for “ordinary people.” Alleged victims are directed to a website named “Quantum AI,” which Cybertrace identifies as a notorious hub for scams and financial deceit.

Dan Halpin, CEO of Cybertrace, expressed concern over the deceptive nature of the deep fake video, suggesting that individuals might easily fall prey to its convincing portrayal. He noted that the scammers behind the video seemed adept in sales tactics, with the video’s lengthy and repetitive content adding to its credibility. Halpin emphasized that the video, mimicking a “fireside chat” featuring Forrest conducted by the Rhodes Trust in October 2023, effectively manipulates Forrest’s mannerisms and body language.

Cybertrace uncovered the deep fake on Facebook on January 27, wherein an artificial intelligence-altered version of Forrest promotes the fictitious crypto trading software. The altered video presents Forrest as asserting that the software has been generating significant profits for individuals, ranging from $700 to $2,200 per day, over a period of nine months, without encountering any issues.

This alarming development underscores the growing sophistication of cyber scams, particularly those utilizing deep fake technology to manipulate and deceive unsuspecting individuals, highlighting the importance of vigilance and caution in online interactions.
