Crypto News– Apple asserts that its latest PQ3 technology has the potential to safeguard encryption keys that may have been compromised. These keys are pivotal in controlling access to sensitive information such as passwords for crypto wallets.
Ways Apple Quantum-Resistant Technology Enhances Security for Crypto Wallets
In a bid to bolster security, Apple has introduced a new quantum-resistant technology that could transform iPhones into cold wallets. Initially applied in iMessage, this technology replaces compromised keys with new ones that cannot be derived from the previous set. Consequently, the exposure of all messages in a conversation through a single known key becomes impossible. Apple claims that this new technology is quantum-resistant.
Quantum computers possess the capability to solve problems that have proven insurmountable for traditional computers. Tasks such as decrypting data secured by RSA or Elliptic Curve cryptography could become feasible for quantum computers. Although no quantum computers have achieved this on a commercial scale thus far, the landscape may soon change. IBM initiated ten practical quantum computing projects last year, raising the prospect of cracking traditional encryption methods. Such advancements could potentially expose private crypto keys stored on devices like iPhones. A scientific report published in Nature in 2023 corroborated these concerns, highlighting the emerging threats that quantum progress poses to blockchain infrastructure.
