Watford F.C. to Offer Equity Sale to Investors and Fans via Republic and Seedrs

Watford Football Club is set to sell approximately 10% of its equity to investors, including its dedicated fanbase, through an innovative equity sale. This initiative will be facilitated by the investment platforms Republic and its European counterpart, Seedrs. Investors participating in this sale will have the option to receive tokens and gain access to exclusive offers, with plans in place to enable future trading of these tokens.

Valued at £175 million, Watford F.C. aims to raise over £17.5 million through this funding effort. The shares are priced at £12.44 each, with a minimum investment requirement of four shares on Seedrs and eight shares on Republic.

The capital raised will be directed towards initiatives designed to enhance the club’s performance, with a significant focus on recruitment, training, and coaching for the men’s first team. Additionally, funds will be used to further develop the club’s brand.

“We are always looking at ways to grow Watford FC and deliver on our plans. We are proud to be the first major English football club to offer true ownership shares to a wide range of investors, including fans, through digital equity,” said Watford FC Chairman and CEO Scott Duxbury. “Our goal is to return to the Premier League, and we believe this innovative and inclusive approach will help us achieve that.”

According to Republic, this sale represents the largest digital equity offering to date, unlocking true ownership shares in an English football club.

Located in London, Watford F.C. has spent over half of the last decade in the English Premier League and is currently competing in the EFL Championship. The club reported a pre-tax profit of £24.1 million for the 22/23 season in a recent press release.

The club also boasts Sir Elton John as its Honorary Life-President.
