Telegram Introduces Toncoin-Powered Ads for User Monetization
Crypto News – Telegram has unveiled a groundbreaking update allowing users to purchase in-platform advertisements using Toncoin, as revealed in a recent announcement. This significant development forms part of the messaging app’s latest initiative aimed at enhancing user monetization, which involves distributing 50% of ad revenue generated in public Telegram channels back to their respective owners.
According to Telegram’s announcement, users now have the capability to promote their channels by investing a nominal amount of Toncoins. This empowers users with the autonomy to select specific channels for placing their TON-powered advertisements, offering them greater control over their promotional strategies.
Moreover, channel owners will benefit from a seamless withdrawal process for their earnings, devoid of any associated fees. This withdrawal service is slated to become accessible in the upcoming weeks through Telegram’s Fragment exchange, as outlined in the announcement.
In justifying the choice of the TON Blockchain for this endeavor, Telegram emphasized its attributes such as low transaction fees and high processing speeds. Notably, TON reportedly achieved a remarkable milestone of processing 100,000 transactions per second during a test conducted last November.
The anticipation surrounding this update was heightened by Telegram CEO Pavel Durov’s earlier teasers on his personal channel. Durov highlighted that despite Telegram channels collectively amassing over 1 trillion monthly views, only a mere 10% of these channels have been monetized through Telegram ads thus far.
Durov expressed optimism about the transformative potential of this initiative, envisioning a virtuous cycle wherein content creators can either convert their Toncoins into tangible rewards or reinvest them to amplify and enhance their channels further.
As of the time of publication, the price of Toncoin has experienced a 2.32% surge in the past 24 hours, reaching $5.24, signaling the market’s positive response to Telegram’s latest monetization endeavor.
