Crypto News – Solana Labs said late on Thursday that it had oversold the Saga phone by mistake and had run out of devices, with an unknown number of orders still outstanding. The business attributed this to an inventory management issue.
Saga Phones Canceled: After 20.000 Sold, Solana Reports Inventory Management Problem
Solana Labs stated that an unnamed third-party distributor was to blame for the error. According to the company, all impacted customers have already been made aware of the problem and will receive their money back in the next several days.
When some customers discovered that the smartphone came with access to an airdrop of 30 million BONK, a Solana meme coin, last week, Saga phones began flying off the shelves after months of mediocre sales. Even though the price of BONK was only valued at roughly $11 a few months prior, it was worth $865 last week due to its phenomenal increase, much more than the $599 Saga. Tokens worth more than $3,000 were obtained by Saga users who took advantage of every airdrop and free gift associated with the phone.
Solana Tried to Turn a Possible Humiliation into an Opportunity
In a rather tragic win for Solana Labs, all 20,000 of the phone’s units sold out in a matter of days. The phone was successful, but largely because of the incentives that came with it. A few days later, technology critic and YouTuber Marques “MKBHD” Brownlee awarded the phone the 2023 “Bust of the Year” Smartphone Award.
No amount of BONK or Claynosaurz could save this phone,

By accepting the moniker and referring to itself as an “award-winning” phone in later marketing materials, Solana Labs tried to turn the possible humiliation into a lighthearted viral moment.
