Ripple recently announced in its tweet that it will donate money in order to help victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria along with other companies in the cryptocurrency sector.
Ripple Donates $1M for Earthquake Victims in Turkey
The announcement of $1 million donation in XRP by Ripple was on February 15. According to the reports, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred on February 6 in Turkey and Syria, and caused the death of more than 36,000 people. The International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps, CARE, and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are among the four that the fund supports.
It is worth noting that there are many other crypto companies besides Ripple, willing to support victims. On February 11, Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of Ethereum, has donated 99 ETH, or about $150,000, to the nonprofit Ahbap. Shortly after, he gave Anka Relief an additional 50 ETH totaling $75,000 in value.
More than $10 million in cryptocurrency donated by different companies. Earlier, donations for earthquake relief and war efforts in Ukraine were made using cryptocurrency. For example, earthquake in Nepal in 2015 saw the greatest outpouring of solidarity in the form of Bitcoin donations to aid organizations.
