Pump.fun Overtakes SunPump in Token Production as Tron Launchpad Activity Wanes
Over two weeks after Pump.fun‘s daily coin creation rate was flipped by the Tron token launchpad, the Solana-based meme coin factory has regained a significant statistical advantage over SunPump. SunPump produced 1,658 more tokens in a 24-hour period on August 21 than Pump.fun did. But the supremacy of token generation was fleeting. Just 1,258 tokens were issued by SunPump on Wednesday, down 83% from 7,531 tokens created just two weeks earlier, according to Dune statistics. Tron Launchpad‘s daily active swappers decreased from 29,099 on August 21 to 6,816 as of Wednesday, indicating a similar reduction.
On the other hand, SunPump‘s metrics are declining more quickly than Solana meme coin factory, rather than Pump.fun outpacing SunPump in terms of the number of tokens produced. As SunPump fell to statistical lows not seen since the protocol’s first week, Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, tweeted that the network will soon launch “celebrity season.”

The cryptocurrency promoter Sahil Arora unveiled several of the celebrity meme coins that were introduced earlier this year on Solana‘s Pump.fun. In an attempt to attract more volume and attention, it is easier for founders to flock towards celebrities. You either glorify or vilify celebrities but there is absolutely no denial that they can appeal to a much larger instant audience and clock in numbers the fastest. In the end, it’s all just manipulation and a game of who gets in and out first.
