Metamask has announced a new upgrade to allow its users in Nigeria to buy cryptocurrencies directly!
Nigeria Upgrade from Metamask
Metamask, one of the most widely used crypto wallets in the world, has recently announced a new upgrade for its users in Nigeria. With the novel upgrade, users will now be able to buy cryptocurrencies via bank transfers to the crypto wallet in question.
This new feature will be available on Metamask mobile and Portfolio dApp, greatly simplifying the process of buying cryptocurrency in Nigeria without using a credit or debit card.
Lorenzo Santos, Product Manager of the globally recognized crypto wallet, said in a statement that before this upgrade, users in the this region could access the wallet. However, the process of buying cryptocurrency was very painful and costly.
Upgrade Realized with MoonPay and ConsenSys Integration
The upgrade was provided by the integration of ConsenSys and MoonPay, the parent company of Metamask.
Commenting on the issue, Lorenzo Santos said: “While Moonpay had a card integration feature, about 90% of attempts to buy crypto with a credit or debit card were declined.”
With this new integration supporting local bank transfers, crypto purchases are now much cheaper and faster, allowing users to access crypto without sending assets from a centralized exchange.
MoonPay’s chief product and strategy officer Zeeshan Feroz predicted in a statement that the upgrade will reduce the rate of direct crypto purchases in the region from 90% to 30%. He also thinks that all bank customers in the region will use this service as a common payment method in e-commerce businesses.
