Crypto News– Krishna Okhandiar, the mastermind behind Remilia and the renowned Milady NFT collection, commonly recognized under the alias “Charlotte Fang,” has alleged that hackers drained his wallet, orchestrating the transfer and liquidation of several prominent NFTs and assets over the weekend.
Founder of Milady Alleges Hack Following Loss of Millions in ETH and NFT Assets
Suspicious transactions flagged by Dumpster DAO prompted attention to Okhandiar’s reaction following the depletion of the Remilia treasury. Onchain data revealed that the purported drainer wallet received assets from wallets associated with Remilia, subsequently liquidating them for approximately 850 ether (ETH), yielding the drainer nearly $3 million at current market rates. Milady comprises 10,000 NFTs crafted on Ethereum, featuring generative artwork portraying anime-style women. The collection surged in popularity after Tesla CEO Elon Musk endorsed it via Twitter in May 2023, catapulting the floor price by nearly 60% within a single day. Remilia operates as the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) governing the Milady collection.
Okhandiar asserts that his system fell victim to a hack, compromising all imported wallets. He shared a post-mortem analysis attributing the breach to “unknown malware,” which infiltrated his password manager containing the seed phrases for all wallets, including the multisig wallet overseeing Remilia’s treasury.
“Our NFT contract/metadata ownership had previously migrated to a hardware wallet standard, ensuring security,” he affirmed. “Our operational treasury was transitioned off-chain, thus safeguarded. We had no intentions of selling our NFTs in the near future, thus this incident does not disrupt our planned budget.”
However, skepticism emerged within the crypto community regarding Okhandiar’s assertions, prompting scrutiny from Web3 security researchers concerning the exploit’s nature and subsequent events.
