Crypto News- A dedicated NFT community, the custodians of the original ‘Doge’ meme, have formed a collaboration with local authorities to erect a real-life statue in honor of Kabuso, the dog behind the famous meme.

This commemorative statue is scheduled to be unveiled on November 2nd in Sakura, Japan, coinciding with Kabuso’s birthday. It is a joint project between the City of Sakura and devoted community members. The statue will be located in Sakura Furusato Square, a place frequently visited by Kabuso and her owner for leisurely walks.

Kabuso’s passionate admirers, who come from all around the world, raised funds last year to bring this statue to life, with aspirations of eventually placing it on the moon. “We have been on this journey for over two years, taking Doge to places she has never been before, from Hollywood to EDM hits, and even a Doge NFT mission to the moon aboard SpaceX,” shared tridog from PleasrDAO, the community that holds the NFT rights to the original Doge meme, in an email statement. “Our goal is to establish itself as the ultimate online gathering place for the Doge and meme communities,” they added.

The community has a variety of interactive events planned to celebrate this special occasion. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Kabuso herself and receive special privileges based on their NFT holdings. PleasrDAO, a group of NFT collectors well-known for acquiring high-value NFTs and nurturing communities, including “Own The Doge,” interprets DOGE as an acronym for ‘Do Only Good Everyday.’ They direct their resources toward charitable causes worldwide, with “Own The Doge” being recognized as a prominent crypto contributor to Save The Children.

Moreover, “Own The Doge” is actively working on a documentary recounting Kabuso’s life and the rapid ascent of the Doge meme. The meme began gaining global recognition in 2010 when Atsuko Sato took a photo of Kabuso for her blog. It reached the peak of popularity when John Monarch, the Reddit user who shared the image from Atsuko’s blog, gave her the name “Doge.”
