Crypto News – The event was confirmed by FTX and BlockFi, who cautioned users to be wary of any bogus communications.
FTX and BlockFi Suffer from Data Breach, All User Data Exposed
Data from lending platform BlockFi and cryptocurrency exchange FTX‘s and Kroll’s customers were compromised as a result of a data breach at Kroll, a third-party agency in charge of processing creditors’ claims for insolvent enterprises. Kroll experienced “a cybersecurity incident that compromised non-sensitive customer data of certain claimants in the pending bankruptcy case,” according to an announcement made by FTX on X.
The incident occurred at Kroll, and Kroll is notifying affected individuals directly with measures that customers can take to protect themselves,

FTX’s Own Systems Unaffected by the Incident
The exchange claims that Kroll did not manage the passwords for its users’ accounts and that the breach had no impact on FTX’s internal systems.
Kroll has assured the FTX Debtors that it promptly contained and remediated the incident, and the FTX Debtors are closely monitoring the situation,

In the same way, BlockFi disclosed a similar breach and shared the email the company is sending to subscribers to let them know.
According to BlockFi, the incident happened on Wednesday, August 23, and Kroll verified that certain of its client data, including some BlockFi client data stored on its platform, were accessed by an unauthorized third party.
FTX and BlockFi are Worried about the Situation
Despite the fact that passwords and critical crypto account information are ostensibly protected, FTX and BlockFi expressed concern about potential phishing attacks and the exploitation of other personal data. The two companies warned their clients to be wary of potential fraud or phony messages from people impersonating entities participating in the bankruptcy procedures.
Similar incidents have impacted other crypto platforms in bankruptcy recently. In the following weeks, you should expect an uptick in phishing attempts and spam phone calls. BlockFi and Kroll will never call, email, or text you to ask you for your personal information.
