Fractal Bitcoin Mainnet Launches, Powered by OP_CAT and FB Token Distribution
Today marks the mainnet launch of Fractal Bitcoin, a much-awaited Bitcoin scaling solution supported by wallet provider Unisat. This solution introduces a scaling mechanism that runs directly on top of the Bitcoin Core codebase. By emphasizing Bitcoin-native constructions over Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, it seeks to set itself apart from other Bitcoin sidechains and other Layer 2 solutions. Moreover, this method incorporates the OP_CAT opcode to increase Bitcoin functionality.
The project has also launched its native token, called FB, with a total supply of 210 million tokens along with the mainnet launch. Half of these tokens have been set aside for proof-of-work mining. The other half of them have already been pre-mined for a variety of uses, such as community grants, investors, core contributors, and the ecosystem treasury.
Fractal Bitcoin Introduces Cadence Mining for Enhanced Network Security
The network may attain block confirmation speeds of less than 30 seconds, according to the project, and it can allow recursive layering, which increases capacity per layer by 20 times. Bitcoin protocols like BRC-20, Runes, Ordinals, and others can be natively supported by Fractal. Moreover, on the mainnet, PizzaSwap, a decentralized exchange, will be accessible.
Additionally, it has a brand-new mining structure known as Cadence Mining, which enhances network security by fusing permissionless mining with Bitcoin mining. Core contributors to the initiative include blockchain development and investment firm Block Space Force and bitcoin-based wallet software Unisat.
