Everything About Nervos Network (CKB)

The Nervos Network (CKB) is an open-source blockchain ecosystem consisting entirely of public protocols. In this article, we will talk about the features of the Nervos network and the CKB blockchain, the first layer of Nervos.

Everything About Nervos Network (CKB)

Nervos is known as a multi-layer crypto network. The platform defines these layers as a verification layer (Layer1) that ensures user security and a generation layer (Layer2) for high-performance transactions. Both layers work together to maximize decentralization, reliability, and scalability. The most significant goal of the blockchain is to protect all stored data and assets most reliably.

Nervos CKB

CKB is a public decentralized blockchain at the heart of the Nervos ecosystem. Using the Proof-of-Work mechanism, the blockchain provides solutions to scalability and interoperability problems. We have already mentioned the multi-layered nature of the Nervos ecosystem. All protocols in the ecosystem work together to serve the crypto economy. CKB serves as the layer 1 blockchain of the ecosystem.

Application Layer

It serves as layer 2 of the Nervos ecosystem. The application layer is built on top of the first layer of the Nervos ecosystem, Layer 1 CKB. The purpose of this layer is to provide developers with maximum flexibility and scalability to build decentralized applications. In addition, the application layer has an EVM-compatible structure. In this way, the application layer provides interoperability by interacting with other blockchains.

How Layered Architecture Works?

Nervos’ ecosystem layers separate states and computations. This gives each layer more flexibility and scalability. In general, all layer 2s use the layer 1 consensus. However, this is not mandatory. Applications can determine their own generation methods by choosing the consensus that works for them. The generation methods that can be chosen are as follows:

  • Local generators on the client: They are generators that work in any programming language and directly on client devices in any system.
  • Web services: Users can use traditional web-based browsers. One example is blockchain-based web games. Developers can create in-game assets on CKB and link them to the website.
  • State channels: Multiple users can use the peer-to-peer communication system to create new states.
  • Generation Chains: On the CKB, they are permissionless blockchains or permissioned blockchains created by states and stores.

The situations listed above are possible generation methods that can be used by users.

Nervos Key Features

The Nervos has a multi-layered structure. The platform provides solutions to problems faced by many blockchains.

Scalability

Nervos provides scalability to users by combining the Proof-of-Work mechanism with NervosDAO. This serves as an indicator of the platform’s interoperability. It also maximizes network security and creates a platform that is suitable for every demand of developers and users. This maximizes platform sustainability.

Interoperability

Nervos supports multiple virtual machines, especially EVM, providing users with seamless asset and data transfer. Users can work with different blockchains. In this way, all users and developers can benefit from the benefits of other blockchains without being dependent on a single blockchain.

Developer-Friendly

Nervos provides all developers with various facilities to create dApps and smart contracts. Using Nervos, developers can easily create dApps and smart contracts without learning any programming languages or dealing with confusing developer tools. The platform also supports developers with informative documentation and community support.

Sustainability

The main problem with many blockchain platforms is sustainability. By analyzing these issues well, Nervos is designed to be a long-term sustainable ecosystem. The platform is supported by NervosDAO, CKByte, and crypto-economic models. In this way, it gains long-term sustainability without loss of value.

CKB Token

Serving as the lifeblood of the ecosystem, the CKB token facilitates the operation of the platform. Using the platform token, users can purchase storage and create smart contracts. Users can use as much storage as the token they own. Another purpose of the token is to reward miners.
