The Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Paris saw the formal debut of the mainnet alpha for the Ethereum Layer 2 Mantle Network.
Ethereum Layer 2 Mantle Network Announces Mainnet Alpha Release During EthCC Event
According to a release, the network processed over 14 million on-chain transactions during the six months of development and testing that preceded the debut.
The testnet phase concluded following multiple security audits that helped remove potential risks and vulnerabilities,
Mantle
The Mantle is currently supported by one of the largest cryptocurrency treasuries, valued at over $2.4 billion, with its May merger with supporter BitDAO, which combined BitDAO’s governance structure and treasury with the network.
Mantle Adopts a Modular Approach
The Ethereum-compatible Mantle Network has a modular chain architecture, dividing execution, data availability, consensus, and settlement into separate levels, as opposed to monolithic blockchains that route all transactions through the same layer, Mantle claimed. According to the company, Mantle’s modular architecture, Optimistic Rollup design, and data accessibility, in conjunction with the Ether restaking protocol EigenLayer, aim to combine high performance and cheap costs while maintaining Ethereum’s decentralization and security.
Mantle claimed that this design allowed for the quick implementation of upgrades by switching out modular components, potentially opening the door for the adoption of the most recent Ethereum advancements like account abstraction. Wallets can operate similarly to smart contracts thanks to account abstraction, which enables them to automatically handle more difficult tasks.
Mantle Network is the first among the L2 blockchains currently in testnet to hit mainnet, and the only modular chain amongst a forest of monoliths. As this burgeoning space sizzles on the eve of ‘L2 Summer’, the agility enabled by Mantle Network’s adaptive and iterative design will keep it at the bleeding edge of the latest technological breakthroughs for years to come.
