Crypto News – Because his extradition is being delayed, Kwon Do-hyeong, the co-founder of Terraform Labs, will probably miss the beginning of the SEC trial on fraud allegations on March 25.
Do Kwon Extradition Delayed, Ex Co-Founder May Miss Court
In a letter sent to a federal court in New York on Monday, Kwon’s attorney, David Patton, stated that the former Terra boss does not wish to delay the trial date. The trial was originally scheduled for January, but Kwon had already stated her intention to attend in person. Thus, it was postponed to March. Kwon’s Montenegrin attorney, Goran Rodic, allegedly stated in a statement appended to Patton’s letter that multiple unforeseen errors made by the regional lower court have resulted in delays in Montenegrin court cases.
The Montenegrin High Court decided last week to extradite Kwon to the United States against his request to be sent back to his home country of South Korea. Rodic announced that Kwon would file an appeal, arguing that the court’s decision was based on false information that the United States had requested extradition before South Korea. Kwon attempted to travel using falsified documents and was apprehended at a Montenegrin airport in March of last year.
