2023 Digital Currency Awards – Ripple Wins Two Honors
Ripple has achieved two prestigious awards at the 2023 Digital Currency Awards, hosted by Currency Research, an esteemed organization fostering collaborations and connecting professionals within the cash and payments industry.
These awards acknowledge Ripple as the top company in terms of sustainability initiatives throughout 2022. Mary Hall, Ripple’s Global Marketing Lead for CBDCs, highlighted this remarkable accomplishment in a recent tweet. The awards ceremony took place at the Digital Currency Conference held in Mexico City.
According to the disclosure by Mary Hall, Ripple has been honored with the Best Sustainability Initiative Award in 2022, while James Wallis, the Vice President for Central Bank Engagements and CBDCs at RippleX, has received the prestigious Digital Currency Leader of the Year Award.
These claims are supported by information from the official Currency Research website. The Best Sustainability Initiative Award specifically acknowledges companies and individuals who prioritize mitigating the negative environmental impact of digital currencies and promoting sustainable practices that reduce carbon emissions.
Ripple emerged as the winner, surpassing two other distinguished finalists: Andrei Lipkin, a renowned strategic advisor to central banks and cryptocurrency enterprises, and Stellar, the company behind the open-source decentralized protocol founded by Jed McCaleb.
As previously reported by The Crypto Basic in December, Ripple has consistently demonstrated its commitment to promoting environmentally friendly initiatives. The company joined over 300 other companies as a signatory of the Climate Pledge in September 2022, with the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Furthermore, Ripple has championed various initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions. In May, the company committed $100 million to support the development of carbon removal solutions. The month prior, Ripple became a signatory to the world’s largest purchase agreement for carbon credits.
Apart from the Sustainability Initiative Award, official data from Currency Research confirms that James Wallis was recognized as the winner of the Digital Currency Leader of the Year award. Wallis outshone two other finalists: Jonathan Dharmapalan of eCurrency and Shiva Bissessar of Pinaka Consulting Ltd.
This award acknowledges individuals who have consistently driven advancements in the digital currency sector through innovative approaches, visionary leadership, effective advocacy, or noteworthy contributions in various domains.
