Crypto News – Blockchain intelligence outfit Arkham claims that millions of dollars are either stranded or forgotten about in at least two sizable bridge contracts involving several recognized crypto addresses.
Could Millions of Dollars Be Forgotten by DeFi Whales and Buterin in Bridge Contracts?
A few DeFi whales, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s wallets are among them. The company provided two screenshots of fund transactions to and from the Optimism and Arbitrum bridges to bolster its argument.

Arkham pointed out that a wallet that Buterin sent $50 ether to have $1.05 million trapped in the Optimism bridge for the past seven months. $1.8 million in wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and $800,000 in Ether are delayed in the Arbitrum bridge respectively, while another wallet connected to Bofur Capital—which has the same name as a Celsius creditor—had $1.8 million in WBTC stalled in the bridge after 27 months of inactivity. In addition, Arkham stated that Coinbase attempted to use Optimism Bridge six months ago to transfer $75,000 in USD Coin to Ethereum, but the funds have not yet been claimed on Ethereum’s base layer.
